Darwin Green 1

Darwin Green is an exciting new community located under two miles from Cambridge city centre. The development will provide a mixture of one and two bedroom apartments alongside two, three and four-bedroom houses.

The homes at Darwin Green will reflect the heritage of Cambridge across a range of diverse town houses and apartments. All properties have been designed to ensure that modern living is at its finest.

The development will also provide residents with quick access to key amenities, green spaces and travel links, providing convenience to everyday living. There are cycling and pedestrian friendly routes in addition to the road infrastructure. There are a variety of shops, activities and eateries as well as the opportunity to explore Cambridge city’s outstanding architecture, cobbled streets, beautiful gardens and the River Cam.

The Outline application for the principle of development was approved in 2013. Below we have provided an update on the story so far.

Darwin Green 1 so far…

BDW1

We are currently building BDW1 which is the first phase of three and four bedroom homes with one and two bedroom apartments. Our marketing suite and show homes are open! Please do visit us if you’re interested.

BDW3

A Reserve Matters application was submitted to the Council in December 2021. This parcel forms part of the wider Darwin Green 1 site that secured planning permission in 2013. This application sets out details relating to design, layout and housing mix for 210 high-quality new homes.

BDW4

A Reserved Matters application for BDW4 was submitted to the Council in December 2021, which forms part of the Darwin Green 1 which was approved in 2013.

BDW4 is one of two central parcels and will deliver 351 new homes which is located next to the central park.

The development will deliver:

351 high-quality new homes

40% affordable housing including a mix of social rent and shared ownership

Green links through the site to enhance pedestrian and cycle connectivity

Solar panels provided on all suitable homes

A series of allotments for new and existing residents

The development will unlock the central park

All homes to meet national space standards

Ducting to enable future installation of electric vehicle charging points

Substantial cycle storage to encourage sustainable transport
